TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR AN ANNUAL FUND

NAME OF ANNUAL FUND

Helga Sarkozy Scholarship for
Faculty of Arts Students

INTRODUCTION

This scholarship was generously created by Paul Sarkozy in honour of his mother, Helga. Helga Sarkozy loved to learn and was an avid student. However, as a young woman she and her family fled from Stalin's Russia and ended up in Germany near the end of WWII therefore missing most of her high school education and the opportunity of a post-secondary education. Helga loved the Arts including music, literature, art and history. Through this scholarship she would be proud that she is enabling a deserving student to pursue their dream of a degree in the Arts that she was never able to do.

PURPOSE OF FUND

Award a scholarship to a student who is entering the first year of an undergraduate program at the Faculty of Arts and who demonstrates financial need as well as academic excellence.
