APF Canada Connect to Asia Scholarship
The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) is committed to expanding the Asia-related skills and knowledge of young Canadians, by providing scholarships to support undergraduate student participation in co-ops and internships in Asia.
PURPOSE OF FUND
Award scholarships to undergraduate students at the Telfer School of Management who are participating in co-op or internship programs in Asia. These scholarships will help cover the costs associated with co-ops and internships in Asia, such as airfare, program fees, living expenses, etc.
Eligible countries and territories include Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Macao SAR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Korea Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, provided that travel to the country or territory is not discouraged by the Canadian Government travel advisory.
Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Central Asian and South Pacific countries are not eligible.
The applicant must:
be a Canadian citizen;
be registered as a full-time student in an undergraduate program at the Telfer School of Management of the University of Ottawa;
3. be in good academic standing; and
4. be accepted for an institution-approved internship program in Asia (minimum 14 weeks of duration) or COOP.
Note: Recipients of this scholarship will be encouraged to:
attend local Asia-related events or relevant skills-building workshops;
attend at least one youth outreach event prior to their departure for Asia (students are encouraged to contact APF Canada program staff directly for questions about eligible events and activities); and
while in Asia and after returning to Canada, complete a minimum of two outreach activities or other outputs, such as blogs or videos that can be made publicly available, or speaking engagements on campus, at local high schools, or with organizations in their communities such as campus-based student groups

Application deadline: Applications must be submitted no later than 4 pm on the final Tuesday of each month to be considered eligible to receive the scholarship in that month.
Applications must be made through Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which can be accessed through https://scholarships.uottawa.ca, and should include:
1. a non-official copy of the applicant’s transcript;
2. a letter from the applicant (max. 500 words) detailing their co-op placement or institution-approved internship in Asia, including the duration as well as a budget; and
3. a letter of confirmation from the Telfer School of Management stating the applicant’s co-op placement or internship has been approved.
