Marie-Nicole Cossette Prize
INTRODUCTION
This prize was established in honour of Marie-Nicole Cossette.
Teaching was part of Marie-Nicole Cossette's very being, a calling she discovered very early in life as she attended the country school right across the road from her family's home in her native village of Saint-Roch-de-Mékinac during the 1950s. The education she received there was grounded in exchanges and gatherings driven by empathy and the ability to understand others.
She began her career as a professor at the Department of Communication in 1980 and, spurred by an interest in international development, worked several times in Burkina Faso between 1994 and 1999. She made sure her students reaped the benefits of her abundant research by designing rich and engaging courses for them.
PURPOSE OF FUND
Award a prize to a student for outstanding achievement in organizational communication, a specialty that Marie-Nicole Cossette helped establish and develop in the Department of Communication's programs at the University of Ottawa.
