NAME OF ANNUAL FUND

Beaudry Somcynsky Prize in Classical Music Composition

INTRODUCTION

This prize has been generously established by Micheline Beaudry-Somcynsky, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts. As a child and during her entire diplomatic career, Ms. Beaudry-Somcynsky has cared passionately about music, and she sang in choirs in the various countries where she was posted. Since her retirement in 2001, she has actively participated in the Chœur classique de l’Outaouais, which has given her access to professional soloists and musicians, and a chance to explore Canada’s musical repertoire. With this gift, she wishes to help enrich Canada’s classical music repertoire by nurturing composition talents among composers.
