GORDON F. HENDERSON FUND

INTRODUCTION

This scholarship fund was established at the Community Foundation of Ottawa through a provision made by the estate of the late Gordon F. Henderson.

PURPOSE OF FUND

This fund provides financial aid bursaries and emergency funding to students at the Faculty of Law, Common Law section of the University of Ottawa.

BURSARY DETAILS

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

1. be registered in a program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa;

2. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;

3. demonstrate good academic standing (for the financial aid bursaries).

Application Deadline: October 31 for financial aid bursaries (there is no deadline for the emergency funding)

Applications must be made through Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which can be accessed through https://scholarships.uottawa.ca, and should include the Financial Questionnaire

APPLICATION PROCEDURE (for emergency funding)

Emergency will be defined as unforeseen circumstances that result in a situation of urgent financial need. Emergency funding will not generally cover tuition or textbook costs, living and childcare expenses in the ordinary course or a pre-existing high debt load as students are expected to come to the program with appropriate funding in place. Examples of emergency situations that the committee would consider to be legitimate include but are not limited to: fire or flood victims, an unexpected medical situation, victims of abuse and eviction (depending on the circumstances).

Students must submit a description of their current situation with supporting documentation to the Financial Aid Administrator, Common Law Section.
