Legas Scholarship Fund

INTRODUCTION

This fund was established in 1997 by Leonard G. Sbrocchi during his tenure as Professor at the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures. Professor Sbrocchi has been teaching for more than twenty years at the University of Ottawa. The fund was named after the publishing house founded by Professor Sbrocchi in 1987. Legas is a multilingual publishing company devoted to the dissemination of original works in the area of culture, language, arts and social sciences. The donor thanks the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions.

PURPOSE OF FUND

To provide financial assistance to deserving students registered in the Creative Writing course offered by the Department of English or registered in one of the Création littéraire courses offered by the Département de français at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

1. be registered in the Creative Writing course offered by the Department of English or registered in one of the Création littéraire courses offered by the Département de français at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa;

2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules;

3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa; and

4. demonstrate academic excellence.

Level of the Award: Undergraduate
