TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR AN ANNUAL FUND
NAME OF ANNUAL FUND
Marina Kun Scholarship
INTRODUCTION
Marina Kun established this scholarship in 2009 with the aim of supporting an international student pursuing studies in violin or viola at the University of Ottawa.
Marina Kun is the President of Kun Shoulder Rest Inc., which she has led since 1975. Kun products have been known and appreciated world wide for over 35 years. The first Kun rest was designed and patented by the late Violin and Bow Maker Joseph Kun, who was a renowned violin pedagogue in his native Czechoslovakia before immigrating to Canada.
Prior to the introduction of Kun rests in the marketplace, there were very few such devices available. Together with important breakthrough characteristics and an ergonomic shape, as well as continuing development, Kun basically established the world market for shoulder rests for violin and viola.
PURPOSE OF FUND
To support an outstanding international violin or viola student in the School of Music of the University of Ottawa.
