Jacques Vaillancourt Scholarship

INTRODUCTION

This scholarship was established by Jacques Vaillancourt (BCom.?68), President of Forest City Services Inc., a company based in the state of Oregon. A native of Hearst, Ontario, Mr. Vaillancourt understood the importance of pursuing his university studies in a bilingual institution. He also realized the importance of taking part in student affairs and served as third-year class president in the business program. At the time this scholarship was created, Mr. Vaillancourt was also the President of the American “Friends of the University of Ottawa” corporation. The donor thanks the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions under the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund program.

PURPOSE OF FUND

To provide financial aid to deserving students who have completed their first year of a bachelor program offered by the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa and be registered in a second or subsequent year of the program, have demonstrated leadership qualities and been involved in student affairs.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

1. be registered in the second, third or fourth year of the BCom program at the Telfer School of Management;

2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules;

3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;

4. have a CGPA of at least 7.0; and

5. have demonstrated leadership qualities and have been involved in student affairs.

Note: preference will be given to bilingual candidates whose mother tongue is French.
