NAME OF ENDOWMENT FUND ( OSOTF [1] )

Françoise and Jean-Louis Allard Scholarship

INTRODUCTION

This fund was created in 2004 by Jean-Louis Allard and his wife Francoise. Jean-Louis Allard is a graduate of the University of Ottawa where he taught philosophy from 1949 to 1986. When he retired from the University, he was awarded the title professor emeritus. Francoise Bruyère-Allard did her teacher education at the University of Ottawa Normal School in 1946-1947. This scholarship fund was created out of gratitude to the University and also to enable less fortunate students to enjoy the enriching experience of university life. The donors thank the Government of Ontario for matching their contribution through its OSOTF program.

PURPOSE OF FUND

To provide financial assistance to philosophy students in need whose studies would otherwise be compromised.
