INTRODUCTION
The fund was established in March 1999 by Anant Anantaraman, President of the Bhawani Anantaraman Memorial Foundation (BAMF). BAMF was founded in 1995 in the memory of his wife Bhawani Anantaraman who died along with their two daughters in 1985 in the Air India explosion. BAMF aims to promote education among children, particularly the disadvantaged. BAMF’s objectives are to build a better path for a better life through education; to provide incentives for talent development in music and arts; and to provide financial support for the poor and disabled, particularly women.
 
The donor thanks the Government of Ontario and the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa for their generous matching contributions.
 
PURPOSE OF FUND
To provide financial assistance to an exceptional graduate or undergraduate string student (violin, viola, cello, bass) registered in the performance sector of the School of Music of the University of Ottawa.
 
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must:            
1.      be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with the protected/refugee status;
2.      be registered as a full-time student in the performance sector at the School of Music of the University of Ottawa;
3.      be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules[2];
4.      demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;
5.      demonstrate exceptional abilities in String Performance; and
6.      maintain a minimum grade point average of 7.0.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications must be made through Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which can be accessed through the uoZone portal, and should include the Financial Questionnaire.
