County of Carleton Law Association

(CCLA) Scholarship

INTRODUCTION

The County of Carleton Law Association Scholarship is presented to a graduating student for high academic achievement and exceptional contribution to the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Common Law Section through a variety of activities. Membership and/or active involvement by the student with the County of Carleton Law Association will be a strong consideration.

The mission of the County of Carleton Law Association is to advance the interests of its members and to promote the administration of justice by providing an accessible, quality law library to its members as well as providing quality and affordable continuing legal education programs to Ottawa and Eastern Ontario lawyers. Its aim is also to advance the interests of its members in the practice of law as well as promote liaison among its members, the Judiciary and the government of the day. The CCLA provides guidance and leadership to its members in the challenges facing the profession and promotes collegiality among its members in the interests of the profession.

The County of Carleton Law Association thanks the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through its generous matching contributions.

PURPOSE OF FUND

To provide financial assistance to a 3rd year student in the area of Common Law at the Faculty of Law.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

1. be enrolled as a full-time 3rd year student in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section at the University of Ottawa;

2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP [2] rules;

3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;

4. demonstrate high academic achievement; and

5. demonstrate exceptional contribution to the Common Law Section through a variety of activities.

 

Value of the Award: Minimum $1,000

Number of Awards: Two (one in the English JD Program, and one in the French JD Program)

Frequency of the Award: Annual

Level of the Award: JD
