NAME OF ENDOWMENT FUND (OSOTF [1] )

McCoy-Ryan Graduate Scholarship in Music

INTRODUCTION

This fund is established in memory of Virginia McCoy, an educator who lived most of her life in Boston, MA. Robert Ryan, the fund’s initiator, is the godchild and a cousin of Ms. McCoy; he is an avid amateur singer, a former member of the Cantata Singers of Ottawa and a former employee of the University of Ottawa. Upon Ms. McCoy’s passing in 2003, she bequeathed a generous gift to her godchild and, in light of her generosity, Mr. Ryan wishes to honour her memory and their shared passion for music with this scholarship fund. The donor thanks the Government of Ontario, which helped create this fund through its generous matching contributions.

PURPOSE OF FUND

To provide financial assistance to graduate students registered at the University of Ottawa’s School of Music.
