Therese Larocque Memorial Scholarship Fund (722220101112)
NAME OF ENDOWMENT FUND (OTSS )
THERESE LAROCQUE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Emmet Milner established this fund in 1997 in memory of his wife, Thérèse Larocque. Born in Haileybury, a small village on the shore of Lake Timiskaming in Northern Ontario, Mrs. Larocque was a trained musician and teacher. She worked mainly in the field of special education and touched the lives of several children and adults by giving them private violin, flute and guitar lessons and by teaching music in several schools. She was also the founder of a typical French ‘boîte à chansons’ in Quebec, Les nuits du nord, which became a favourite spot for musicians to promote music as well as to meet. In fact, wherever she lived, be it in Ontario, in British Columbia or in Quebec, she contributed to the development of music.
The donors thank the Government of Ontario, which helped create this fund through its generous matching contributions.
