Laurel Clow Memorial Scholarship
This fund was established by colleagues, friends and family in memory of Laurel Clow, who graduated magna cum laude in 1979 with a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Ottawa. Ms. Clow passed away in August 2002 at the age of 46 after a valiant battle with cancer. Laurel Clow was called to the bar in April 1981 and then spent a year with the Council on the Status of Women. In 1982, she joined the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs, advancing to be Director General of Litigation Management Branch, the position she held at the time of her death.
The founding donors thank the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions.
PURPOSE OF FUND
The purpose of this fund is to provide financial assistance to deserving students registered in the JD program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in native law and/or alternate dispute resolution.
The applicant must:
1. be registered full-time in the JD program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section;
2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules;
3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa; and
4. demonstrate academic excellence.
Note: preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate excellence in native law and/or alternate dispute resolution;
