Aruna and Rupa Anantaraman Violin Scholarship

INTRODUCTION

The Air India explosion of June 1985 took the lives of three members of the Anantaraman family of Ottawa – Mrs. Bhawani Anantaraman and her two daughters, Aruna, age 15 and Rupa age 12. The Anantaraman sisters were gifted violin students and this scholarship has been endowed in their memory by their father, Dr. Anant Anantaraman.

PURPOSE OF FUND

To provide a scholarship to a gifted undergraduate or graduate violin student in the Bachelor of Music or Master of Music program at the University of Ottawa.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

1. be registered as a full-time student (violin major) in the Bachelor of Music or Master of Music program at the School of Music of the University of Ottawa;

2. have demonstrated outstanding potential as a performer.

Value of the award: Minimum $800

Number of awards: Variable

Frequency of the Award: Annual

Level of the Award: Undergraduate or Graduate
