Richard K. Foy Memorial Award
This fund was generously created in honour of Richard K. Foy by Jennifer Foy.
Richard Foy received a BA in English literature from the University of Ottawa in 1974 and an MBA from the University of Calgary in 1995. Following his graduation from the University of Ottawa, he joined CUSO and taught English as a second language in Chad, Central Africa. When he returned to Canada in 1976, he taught English as a second language in Hull, Quebec, developing a curriculum for adults who wanted to upgrade their English language skills. In 1978, he moved into the business world, working with the Royal Bank and Investors Group, before retiring from Raymond James in Cochrane, Alberta, in 2015. Richard nurtured a love of English literature throughout his life and was an avid reader until his death in 2017. In his memory, it is hoped that other University of Ottawa Department of English students will benefit from the Richard K. Foy Memorial Award to assist them in furthering their education and love of English literature.
